Winter storm warning in effect for the next 48 hours, the report said.
"Well that's all fine and dandy, but I have to drive 80 miles to and from work every day," I thought as I cranked the heat up to HIGH in my plum front-wheel-drive Cadillac, and scraped the snow and ice off the windshield.
The Semi-trucks on Interstate 80 create a moving windbreak, as the snow that was streaming across in straight lines becomes swirling curliques reminding me of hookah smoke, thick and mesmerizing. And I remind myself, I shouldn't stare hypnotically at the blowing snow, but focus on staying between the solid lines on the road, and avoiding swerving semis, rushing, even though treacherous conditions to deliver the goods they contain.
I am one of those types that needs multiple stimulations or distractions to make myself focus. In other words, I need the music going and cool pictures to occasionally glance at, in order to complete a task.
"Oooh a sparkely!"
Today at work, the office was bare and so my distraction was Red Hot Chili Peppers, oh yes. This week, I have to make up a few extra hours so I can take off Christmas Eve, and so the distratcion is very welcome. Give it away, give it away, give it away now....
